A is for Akwidda

A if for Akwidda. On my fourth trip to Ghana I head past it famous forts and for what Scott Fitzgerald called "life's prayer rug".....the beach.

"Life" in this case is the plethora of turtles that breach the surface to spawn; for Akwiddaa is known for its famous flippered residents, indeed in the very first hour after I arrive and slip from sandals to sand....I'm serenaded, serenaded by nature! An Akwiddaa Akwaaba! A tiny turtle trying to reach the watery troughs a rough 10m away.

The road here was rough....The Lonely planet guide for West Africa described it as "...". On our way we stop at Takoradi-Busa junction, our driver from the safari beach lodge Amadu tells us very discreetly that he has to pick up two more lodge guests. We're parked in a gas station the lots are empty only a few motorcylist veer next to the pumps for petrol. A single lane road pass a small round about;
junction it really is just that a junction but one the leads to a shores of slience. Our co-travellers arrive
a french woman named marie and her boyfriend.
